I was working with an IT company and drawing a handsome salary. I was all satisfied in my life ever since my childhood. During my studies, I always scored high grades and as a result or by my good fate, I got this job in my first attempt only. So, I was having no reason to have the factors like fear, lack of confidence, stress, depression. In my job also, I got many performance awards due to my commendable work.
Those days, recession started affecting companies badly. We were all hearing about possible cost cutting in the organization from the last 2 weeks. People started feeling scary that they might lose their jobs. But, I was quite sure that it would not happen with me as company would not want to lose a good worker like me. FEAR - this is the word, I heard only, I never faced it myself until the incident of that day, when I got a call from my manager to meet him in his cabin. That call caused some anxiety in my stomach. However, I made myself calm by convincing myself that I didn't have any reason to get fired. But, I was wrong, inside his cabin, I was asked to put down my resignation. I was said that my services were no longer required. I was paid one month’s salary and asked to submit my resignation letter.
It was a big shock for me. I did not lose only my job, I lost my confidence too and gained a disease say FEAR. This FEAR stopped me even to interact with my friends. I closed myself in my room keeping myself isolated from outside world. I was having enough food stuffs for about a month to fulfil my hunger. Even the sound of phone ring also caused FEAR in me, so I got the SIM card out of my phone. Whole day I just would lie in the bed thinking how it could happen to me.
After about a month, I went to get some stuff from grocery store. While coming back, I stopped by a river near to that store. Then I saw a dog coming there, he was thirsty. He looked into the river, he saw another dog there -- his own image -- and became afraid. He would bark and run away, but his thirst was so much that he would come back. Finally, despite his fear, he just jumped into the water, and the image disappeared. And I knew that a message had come to me from God: "One has to jump in spite of all fears." I came back to my room with a new energy. I started my phone. I talked to job consultants and within a week I got a new job with better salary than the previous one.
This incident taught me : "To escape FEAR, face it."

ReplyDeleteThis news was so good that next day one IT company forward this story as their weekend mail..
Best of luck and congratulations for all future projects
Its said that the fear impel us in life. When we face our fears we cross barriers. and when we allow ourselves to be dominated by our fears we get paralyzed in life.
ReplyDeletesometimes people have phobia of something, like spiders, cockroaches, and although they are aware these animals can't harm them, they can't control themselves.
Facing a big cockroach seems impossible, as well as facing our fear of changes also seems impossible.
maybe a good start is forgiving ourselves and forgiving others. Many fears come from bad experiences from long ago in our lives. I use to say:
" we deserve to forgive"
But the source of our fears is very extense. Sometimes we need a good talk to ourselves, sometimes a good talk to a good friend, sometimes we need the help of an expert.
But as the story stressed WE ALWAYS SHOULD FACE OUR FEARS.
Congrats, Panchtatva, for approaching such a good subject!
